This client uses a commercial programmable electric feeder but had a problem with spillage during the passage of the spoon from plate to mouth. Originally a standard baking tray was used but as his condition deteriorated it was hurting his chest and a shaped tray was made to ease the problem. The cup holder which originally was attached to his wheelchair has gradually been moved in stages to cope with his reduced movements. The devices enable the client to continue to feed himself thereby maintaining his independence.
