Case History No.1

This client had severe disabilities and was unable to move his legs and was also unable to control the exerciser himself. The machine was constructed for operation by a carer and control was established by a friction clutch. To save expense the motor was cannibalised from a redundant electric wheelchair and was powered by a salvaged battery charger thereby avoiding the problems of battery charging in the house and providing an economical solution. The legs were restrained by nylon supports heat formed from a surplus sheet left over from a previous job. The client enjoys the exercise and has benefited both physically and psychologically from daily use of the device, in particular the easing of the stomach muscles resulting in drastic reduction on the requirements for laxatives. The family say that it has improved the quality of life not only of the client but for the whole family.
