Volunteering
All panels would welcome professional engineers, and individuals with
experience in electrics, electronics, woodworking, and metal trades.
Panels meet regularly at intervals to suit their members, the amount of
time being devoted to panel work is left to the individual’s discretion.
Generally panel members out of pocket expenses are reimbursed out of
panel funds.
Donations
Panels themselves are not fund raising organisations and rely on
individual and corporate donations to cover general costs and purchase
of materials. Those wishing to help by making donations should contact
either the National Organiser or the local panel chairman.
Publications
REMAP and REMAP(Scotland) jointly produce an annual year book which
gives details of a wide variety of projects manufactured by the panels
in the previous year. This year book also lists contact names and
telephone numbers for all UK panels.
REMAP (Scotland) also produce a leaflet giving brief details of the
organisation of the Scottish panels.
REMAP produce occasional newsletters
The panels consist of Engineers, Occupational and Physiotherapists, and
other professionals engaged in helping people with their disabilities.
Panels meet at regular intervals to discuss projects and to review
progress. The bulk of the referrals come from the Social Work
departments and NHS sources but individual referrals from carers are
also considered. Panels are insured against public liability and
projects conform to the European Medical Devices Directive 1998.
Members give their time free and rely on donations of materials and
funds from the general public. No charges are made to clients for the
devices supplied.
